The idea of Get up! Stay up! (GUSU)
Get up! Stay up! is a training concept I developed to train safe and skilled cross-country pilots. In many group courses, the knowledge shared isn’t enough to fully grasp the complexity of XC flying. On top of that, the training focus is sometimes poorly aligned with the actual needs of the pilots.
This training series allows motivated pilots to progress level by level or simply book the level they currently need. If you’re unsure which one is right for you, just drop me a message.
Each training lasts 3 to 4 days and takes place in very small groups of max. 6 participants. Ideally, you should plan for a few extra days afterward to independently apply and reinforce what you’ve learned.
GUSU "Tecnique" - Level 1 - Basics

Training Concept
In this level, I prepare you specifically for cross-country flying. To ensure that you’re not overwhelmed by launching, canopy issues, or landing on good XC days, we’ll train exactly those situations.
This includes various launch techniques, newly designed flight maneuvers tailored for XC flying, and different landing scenarios – especially precise landings on small areas.
Made for
This is the right place for you – whether you hold an A license or B license – if you want to learn the basics of cross-country flying.
Pilots returning from a longer break – a bit of “flight rust” – also like to book this level to get back into the groove.
All you need is your paragliding equipment.
GUSU "Thermalling" - Level 2 - Intermediate

Training Concept
In GUSU Level 2, you’ll learn how to efficiently center thermals. You’ll gain a solid understanding of how thermals form and behave under different weather conditions. I’ll show you special soaring techniques for weak lift and prepare you with new maneuvers specifically for cross-country flying. We’ll also repeat the maneuvers from Level 1 to reinforce your skills.
In short: we’ll learn how to make the most of every source of lift.
Made for
You’ve already mastered takeoffs and landings in different flying sites, and you’ve gained some initial experience with thermalling and soaring flights. But you’re still missing a deeper understanding of how thermals actually work, and you lack solid strategies for cross-country flying.
That’s exactly why this training is perfect for you – and it’s also a popular choice among pilots who mainly fly at their local mountain.
GUSU "Crosscountry" - Level 3 - Advanced

Training Concept
Now we’ve reached the supreme discipline: cross-country flying. Here, you’ll apply everything you’ve learned in Level 1 and 2 with focus and confidence. Together, we’ll explore world-famous flying sites and complete real XC flights. Each day begins with a professional weather briefing, followed by detailed route planning. Then we fly the planned tasks as a group, encouraging each other to reach new personal bests.
Since the training is weather-dependent, we may switch the flying site at short notice if needed. Flying sites for Level 3 include: Stubai, Bassano del Grappa, Meduno, and Kronplatz.
Which Training Level is right for you?
Get up! Stay up! is not about mass processing – it’s focused coaching in small groups. To get the most out of your training, it should match your goals and current flying level.
Who is GUSU for:
- Pilots with an A or B license who want to fly more confidently and efficiently
- Anyone who wants to move from casual flying to cross-country flights
- Pilots coming back from a break and looking to refresh their skills
- Thermik beginners as well as experienced pilots aiming to fine-tune technique
- Those who value structured learning and real progress over standard group lessons
Group Size Notice:
Trainings take place in small groups with a maximum of 6 participants – so there’s always time for your individual questions and needs.

FAQ Get up! Stay up!
Do I have to complete all three modules?
No, you don’t have to do all the modules – but it’s highly recommended. Each training lasts only 3–4 days and is a great opportunity to refresh your skills and build steadily on your progress.
What happens in bad weather?
If it’s clear in advance that the weather will be unsuitable, I’ll cancel the training.
If the weather turns bad during the training, we’ll switch to an alternative flying site.
Do I need a radio?
Not absolutely necessary, but it’s definitely an advantage to have your own radio.
However, you do need to bring your own Vario GPS – that’s essential.
What if I’m unsure which module is right for me?
No problem – just get in touch with me directly. I’ll help you figure out which level best suits your skills, goals, and current flying experience.
